Post title: Classroom Teacher for Qur’an, Memorisation, and Islamic Studies

Location: Blackhall mosque

Contract type: Permanent

Hours per week: 7 hours

Salary: £7.50 per hour


Edinburgh Islamic Academy is an Islamic Supplementary school which runs on weekends or on evenings. EIA has undertaken the challenge of achieving excellence in the education and tarbiyah of young people of 5 – 21 and inspiring in them love for Allah and his Messenger and His creation and a lifelong connection with the Quran and values such as family, community spirit and social responsibility.

As from our name, explains our aim to create young people who are thinkers and doers and in so doing we aim to create a better and more vibrant community for the future. Hence, EIA are establishers of outstanding educational and social hubs that, through focus on children and their development, create cohesion amongst those children, their parents, teachers and the wider community.

We are looking for a competent teacher to support our team. This is an ongoing position with a new academic year start. The role would suit a graduate or experienced teacher with strong communication and organisational skills as well as a background in working in a classroom environment.

The successful candidate must have excellent teaching skills and the ability to manage children’s learning and behaviour. Candidate must also have the ability to correspond with parents, teachers and students in an efficient way.

This is a fast paced environment, so you will enjoy the buzz of a busy academy! It is critical that the successful candidate can work at speed, be conscientious in their work at all times and manage workload effectively to achieve a successful schooling service.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday (blackhall) 

Friday: 6pm – 8pm 

Saturday: 11.00 am – 1.30pm 

Sunday: 11.00 am – 1.30pm
